Delicious Cucumber Salad

Lately I have been loving salads and I am in the process of ensuring that I eat more salads in my meals all throughout the week. There are so many types of salads that you can make. For instance; Garden salads use a base of leafy greens like lettuce, arugula, kale or spinach. Other types include bean salad, tuna salad, fattoush, Greek salad, and Japanese sōmen salad (a noodle-based salad). The sauce used to flavor a salad is commonly called a salad dressing; well-known types include ranch, Thousand Island, and vinaigrette. Salads can be served at any point during a meal. This means that we have different salads for different times of the meals. There are Appetizer salads, light, smaller portion-salads to stimulate the appetite as the first course of the meal. Side salads, to accompany the main course as a side dish. Main course salads, usually containing a portion of a protein food, such as chicken breast, salmon, legumes, cheese or slices of beef. Dessert salads, sweet versions containing fruit (alone as in a fruit salad or mixed with other ingredients), gelatin, sweeteners or whipped cream. Today I made a delicious cucumber salad that would go great for grilled vegetables, meat, chicken, seafood and even on its own.

Caramelized Banana Stuffed Crepes Recipe

Happy New Month Loves! Let's kick off this new month with one of my sinful indulgences, after chocolate that is! Crepes! I cannot seem to get enough of these little morsels of deliciousness; I could eat them every day, seriously! Crepes are so versatile; you can make them with whatever ingredients your mind tells you to, aaaand, you can stuff them with sweet or savoury fillings. The sky really is the limit when it comes to this amazingly delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack dessert! See how you can eat it whenever. So my first Crepes recipe for this month is caramelised Banana stuffed Crepes! How lovely does that sound? Crispy on the outside yet gooey on the inside because of the bananas caramelised in sugar and butter! Then to top it off, sprinkled with icing sugar, no regrets! Yes yumminess! I feel like I'm on a high, that's the way I want to start this new month! With incredible food, people and places. I want to live out my 'good food. good vibes. good places' blog mantra. Like Julia Childs said " people who love to eat are always the best people..." so cheers to good food and being the best person to eat with.

PEACH YOGURT APPLE PARFAIT DESSERT

Life is always better with yummy treats to look forward to. As much as I love Fashion, Art, Music and all things Home Decor, I love cooking more. There is just something neat when it comes to preparing food and getting to eat it and even share with friends and family. The best part of cooking is of course eating! Anyway I always wanted to start a food blog but I thought, I don't have a camera, how will people find the food presentation, will I be able to maintain it? So many thoughts, mostly the fear of failure above everything else. But then I said to myself, why will I be doing it? Because I love to cook. Who will I be doing it for? Me. So those two answers were enough for me to take the plunge and just start! So far I have no regrets and as usual with anything in life, it is a learning process. I learn new things everyday and I am having fun doing what I love. That is enough for me. It is good enough for me. I am not perfect but I am getting better by the day. I love Parfaits and making them is just fun and really takes little time. You can top with whichever snack or Fruit that you like. For this one I went for Biscuits and Apples as my choice for topping. See how it is simple to create this awesome dessert. For more yummy treats check out my Food Blog.

Basic Crepes Recipe

I love Crepes, that is a known fact and I used to think that making them was hard and took too long. But the moment I made my first crepes, I have been having fun with these sweet French street food that are famous around the world. So far I have only made sweet crepes but in the coming days, I will be making more savory crepes. So today I thought I would share with you a basic crepes recipe that can be your go to crepe recipe. From there you can add any spices, herbs, fruits, vegetables, drinks like wine or beer and even use different kinds of flours. Crepes are made for everyone, whether you are Vegan, a vegetarian, on a paleo diet or you do not have any dietary needs. There are gluten free crepes, flourless crepes and even 2 ingredient crepes. So you see how much option you have when making crepes! Simple tricks for making crepes include not over beating the batter, a few lumps are okay. If you want a really smooth batter you can use a blender or hand mixer to mix the ingredients. For a finer crepe batter, you can pass the batter through a sieve for that perfectly smooth texture. To get extra crispy crepes make sure the batter is smooth but really runny. Do not put too much batter on the skillet or pan so that the batter can spread thinly around the pan. An important tip while making crepes is to use a non-stick pan. This is because crepes are so thin and will tend to stick and you definitely do not want that! Use a rubber spatula if you can since it is thin and will help you smoothly slide it under the crepe when flipping it. Other than that, making crepes is fun and you get to enjoy the fruits of your hard - or not - labour! Here's my basic crepe recipe.

Cooking Techniques

It's Christmas time and here are a few cooking techniques you might want to use for your Christmas recipes and festivities:

Braising (from the French “braiser”), is a combination cooking method using both moist and dry heat; typically the food is first seared at a high temperature and then finished in a covered pot with a variable amount of liquid, resulting in a particular flavour. Braising of meat is often referred to as pot roasting, though some authors make a distinction between the two methods based on whether additional liquid is added.
